Missouri local education agencies (LEAs) are required to file a detailed accounting of revenues, expenditures, fund balances, and fund transfers each year. These Annual Secretary of the Board Reports (ASBRs) are published by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) on a public web portal, but there is no way to download records in bulk, meaning that researchers seeking to use these data would need to manually download, clean, combine, and validate over 13,000 individual ASBRs across 11 tables.
This website provides longitudinal datasets (compiled via web-scraping) that cover nearly all districts and charter LEAs in Missouri, from the 2001–02 school year through the most recent completed year. The data are cleaned, combined, validated against other public records, and released periodically as new data become available. I compiled these data for my own research and am sharing them in case they are of use to anyone else.
Building-level per-pupil expenditures cover the 2018-19 to 2024-25 school years; the district-level ASBR tables go back to 2001-02.
